About the artist
Faysal Altunbozar (b. 1993, Istanbul; lives and works in London) is a cross-disciplinary artist whose sculptural and spatial interventions reframe power, pleasure, desire, and cultural memory.
An MFA graduate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Altunbozar has shown internationally, including solo exhibitions such as Interior Irruptions in Chicago and Amsterdam, and Teaching a Perv How to Eat Honeysuckle at Prairie, Illinois. He has received support from the Andrew W. Mellon and Jumex Foundations, and served as an IDEAS Fellow with the Society of Architectural Historians.
His work often uses resin, ceramic, steel, found soil, seeds, and light to explore architecture, colonial histories, digital cruising, and bodily imprint, examining how material objects carry social and erotic narratives . Critics describe his installations as “layering cultural histories and playful allusions to the body to reframe dichotomies of power and pleasure”
