About the artist
Christa Holka is a London-based visual artist working primarily with photography. Their practice spans portraiture and performance documentation, with a focus on queer visibility, intimacy, and radical presence. Holka’s images often centre artists, performers, and cultural workers, engaging portraiture as both archive and encounter.
They have collaborated with leading institutions such as Tate Modern, the ICA, Whitechapel Gallery, Gasworks, ArtAngel, and the Barbican, and their work has appeared in Frieze, ArtForum and Wallpaper. Holka’s photographs operate as both cultural artefacts and sites of emotional resonance, where performance, identity, and resistance coalesce.
